A Daughter's Hope
July 11, 2008

On March 13, 2008, 13-year-old Amber Simmons' mom, Rachel Conger (pictured), disappeared. For 10 years, Rachel (only 30 years old) was a victim of domestic violence, living in fear of her abusive husband. On the night of March 12, Amber's mom told her that her step-dad was acting crazy. When Amber woke up the next morning, her mother was gone. She has not been seen since.

Throughout her young life, Amber witnessed the abuse her step-father inflicted upon her mother. Now Amber wants teens in similar situations to know that it's important to get help at the first sign of abuse, because abuse can escalate quickly. If someone you know is being abused, contact us for help or for more information.

With courage and determination Amber continues the search for her mother. She hopes that her story will not repeat itself. Thank you, Amber, for sharing your story.
