Growing Up in an Abusive Home

Do you think that everyone who is raised in an abusive home will definitely be in abusive relationships themselves? Or, do you think the opposite: those people will avoid abusive relationships because they know what it's like?

What People are Saying

"I think it depends on what you learn or don't learn about the situation. Some people grow up believing there is no other way and fall into the same thing. Others may understand that it's wrong and look for something better. Hopefully they realize they deserve better." - New York, 20

"I grew up in an abusive home and it was all I knew. I thought everyone lived that way and when I did tell someone, I was usually ignored or passed off as a difficult child. It's great that things are more open and honest now but we still have a long way to go." - Alabama, 36
