Teens Promote Awareness

January 25, 2009

Members of the Teen Relationship Violence Prevention Club at Moreno Valley High School in California are on a mission to promote healthy relationships and spread awareness about dating violence. In just one month, these youth activists have already held two conferences and reached over 200 of their peers.

By completing quizzes and questionnaires, listening to guest speakers and watching skits, students learned about the different types of abuse and how to build healthy relationships.

Drama students at Southeast High School in Wichita are spreading awareness in a whole new way by performing ‘The Outrage,’ a theater piece that explores how teens deal with abusive relationships and sexual violence. By inviting their peers in the audience to participate, these creative youth activists have found a powerful way to deliver the message that teen relationship violence is a problem.
